This October, in alignment with #CybersecurityAwarenessMonth, the Ministry of Communications Technology and Digital Economy partnered with the Cybersecurity Education Initiative to host a transformative workshop in Minna—aimed at strengthening the cybersecurity posture of Niger State’s public institutions.

The workshop brought together government officials from across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), providing them with critical insights, tools, and skills needed to recognize, prevent, and respond to cybersecurity threats.

This initiative was a proactive measure to ensure that officials remain one step ahead, equipped not just with awareness but with practical strategies for defending sensitive information and digital infrastructure.

One of the workshop’s most powerful moments came during the keynote address by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, who underscored the vital role of information security in every arm of government.
He emphasized that in today’s interconnected world, the integrity and security of government data is non-negotiable. He called on all MDAs to adopt best practices, remain alert, and work collaboratively to protect the State’s digital ecosystem.
“Cybersecurity is no longer a technical issue alone—it is a governance priority,” he declared.
He further highlighted the Ministry’s unwavering commitment to elevating cybersecurity to a strategic pillar of the state’s digital transformation agenda.
