Blending Innovation with Agriculture: Our Ministry Partners with Maizube Farms for Staff Empowerment

In a bold move to advance staff welfare and champion smart agriculture, the Ministry of Communications Technology and Digital Economy is proud to announce a strategic partnership with Maizube Farms, a renowned agricultural enterprise in Niger State.

This collaboration, initiated after productive talks between Honourable Commissioner Suleiman Isah and Mustapha Abdulsalam, Managing Director of Maizube Farms, is set to unlock a new chapter in agricultural innovation and employee empowerment.

What’s the Goal?
To establish staff-owned greenhouses that will enhance nutrition, promote sustainable income generation, and provide long-term benefits—even after retirement.

Highlights of the Partnership Include:

Greenhouse Farming for Staff Cooperatives – Creating opportunities for staff to grow high-value crops, with long-term economic and health benefits.
Post-Retirement Support – Retiring staff will remain engaged through structured ownership and profit-sharing schemes.
Economic Tree Planting – Trees will be planted across ministry premises to provide shade, serve as windbreaks, and bear fruit—contributing to both aesthetics and utility.
Training in Modern Agricultural Practices – Staff will receive expert-led training sessions on smart farming techniques and sustainable agriculture.
Pilot Site for Smart Agriculture Prototypes – Our ministry will also serve as a testing ground for digital tools and innovations in agriculture, merging technology with food production.

“Agriculture is no longer just about hoes and cutlasses. With the right digital tools, it’s a thriving industry waiting for our youth and workforce to explore. This initiative is our way of preparing our staff for that future.”
Hon. Suleiman Isah, Commissioner

This partnership is a perfect reflection of Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago’s Agricultural revolution agenda—fusing innovation, economic empowerment, and sustainability. It is yet another step toward building a New Niger where technology drives not only communication but livelihood and food security.
